I am up early to check out the animal market which is about seven blocks away and across the river. It's not like I am going to buy a pig, a chicken or a cat, but let's see how it goes down, eh? The day is starting out crystal clear:
The first thing I see of interest is these women haggling over which pig head each one is going to get. I assume thes are all that is left from the pigs of the week in the local mercados, like where I ate in Ibarra. Hopefully they don't last all week, but regardless in the end all that is left is the head.
Many a pig was being led to market. Quite a few were not cooperating, like this one! I imagine this pig would provide income for several weeks, who knows?
The market is divided up by animal size: cows, pigs, small animals. I did not make it to the small animal area.
It is better if the pig thinks it is leading the way. I learned that years ago after raising a pig scramble pig from the Fryeburg Fair!
The crowds are thickening!
Time to go for breakfast, but I stumble on the local market that I had not noticed in the previous two days. Of course they have one!
A little rigor mortis setting in... Let's get selling and cooking before the sun gets any higher!
Walking back through the plaza, the morning light was nice over Imbabura.
