Within minutes a camioneta picks me up. The double cab is full and there is not really room in the back for my bag and me but we make room. There are about 8 people in the back, breathing fumes under a canopy. It is about a 30 min drive uphill. Had to avoid a herd of cows. A paisano and his daughter who live way above Salinas were friendly and talkative. Arrive and walk to my deserted hotel. One of these shots is from the balcony. The sun is out and it is BEAUTIFUL! Salinas sits at 3550meters. I am either feeling the altitude or the exhaust fumes. I can get a tour at 2pm because everyone is eating, so I go eat...$2.50 FULL LUNCH. Other shots of the square. Population is about like Bridgton. There is a story of economic success that has brought me here. See next post.
